50 years of history

Founded on June 4, 1972, we are a company offering customized solutions to enhance productivity and safety in water, agriculture, and urban environments.

1967 - 1974

Gonzalo Mazuera works at Enka de Colombia, where he builds his professional career and acquires extensive knowledge, ultimately taking on the role of Sales Director for Latin America in the Industrial Fibers segment.

1972

Gonzalo Mazuera and his wife, Maria Elena Posada, establish Indumar Ltda. Inspired by his experiences during business trips across Latin America and supported by Enka as a key strategic ally and supplier of raw materials (high-tenacity nylon), he launches the project from a house in the Colombia neighborhood of Medellín, starting with 5 employees, 2 winding machines, and 1 twisting machine.

1974- 1975

We acquire 1 flat loom and 2 twisting machines, which were used at the time to manufacture tarpaulins for tires, and we begin the manual production of fishing nets.

1983

We purchase our first Japanese machine from Tanimura to weave simple knot nets.

1987-1988

We venture into the production of colored nylon threads for blue jeans, a trend that initially boosts sales but remains in the market for only a short period.

1989

After a decline in sales following the fading trend of colored threads for blue jeans, we strategically decide to focus on manufacturing products for fishing.

1993

Juan Carlos Posada, an agronomist from the Pan-American Agricultural School Zamorano in Honduras, joins Indumar. Thanks to his expertise, we begin exploring new uses and markets for our products.

1995-1996

We decide to build our own warehouse, where we currently operate, located in the La Tablaza neighborhood of La Estrella, Antioquia.

1998

A severe crisis hits us due to the El Niño phenomenon, causing drought in the region and low fishing yields. However, through the collective efforts of our employees and shareholders, we manage to recover and emerge stronger.

1999

Thanks to our innovative and persevering spirit, we develop and start marketing new products for the floriculture and palm oil industries.

2002

Gonzalo Mazuera steps down from management, and Juan Carlos Posada is appointed as his successor.

2004

We expand our product offerings into the sports and playgrounds market.

2007

We reach new territories by exporting to Brazil, a significant region in the fishing industry due to the Amazon River.

2018

We create the first development for the design and interior design market with mesh for architectural supports.

2022

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we now have over 200 employees. We embark on a process of renewing our infrastructure, technology, and processes, and we establish a new corporate image, outlining a fresh marketing and commercial strategy that integrates all the segments our products serve.
